Media Video & Audio Processing
Automated podcast editing.
The edited audio podcast is the only input. AI automatically produces the edited video version from it, without the need for manual video editing.
100%
of cuts carried over to video
The Problem
What needed to change
- Bauer Media produces podcasts in both audio and video versions. Editing happened in two steps that were linked only by hand.
- The podcast was first edited on the audio track, where the final dramaturgy of the episode took shape.
- The video was edited afterwards, manually, to match the edited audio. Every cut from the audio had to be found and repeated in the video.
- Double work on every episode extended time to publication and tied up editors' capacity.
The Solution
What we implemented
We deployed an AI solution that automatically edits the video output to match the edited audio podcast.
- The input is the final edited audio podcast and the raw video recording.
- AI aligns the audio with the video, identifies every cut and applies it to the video track.
- The output is an edited video version of the episode, ready to publish.
The Results
What changed after deployment
- The solution is in production. Manual video editing to match the audio has been replaced by an automated process. The editor cuts the audio; the video is produced on its own.
- The time from the finished audio edit to the finished video dropped from hours of manual work to an automated run.
- The audio and video versions of an episode are always consistent, with no differences caused by manually re-creating cuts.
We are currently working on fully automated AI dramaturgy and podcast editing: from the moment a podcast is recorded to its publication across platforms.
